Screens are frames, which are fitted with a type of mesh. Each mesh is designed to achieve a specific goal e.g. Insect Mesh - to keep flies out; Pollen Mesh - to filter Pollen; Pet Mesh - to keep pets safely inside or keep unwanted guests out. A screen is placed over a window or door, acting as a 'barrier' or filter. Screening has become increasingly popular because it provides a long term solution to recurring problems.
As the saying goes 'prevention is better than cure' - so it makes sense to keep flies or other insects out of your property rather than letting them in then chasing them around with a fly spray or swatter! In the same way, a Pollen Screen can be used to filter pollen entering a room, addressing different pollen types as the season progresses. Screens can be either part of or a complete solution, depending on the problem and represent a long term solution because they can be re-used year after year.
If you're new to screening, there will be some terms that you might not have heard before. These relate to the type of mesh, different ways screens are fixed in place e.g. face fitted or reveal fitted, the fixings used, types of screen systems and many more. This list is not exhaustive, but it does cover many of the main terms you will come across as you learn about screening. Use this as your screening dictionary whenever you need it.

Use a Pet Screen. A pet screen uses a strong Polyester mesh to form an effective barrier between your pet and the outside world. You can let the fresh air in and keep your pet safe.
